Position Summary:

Associate Editor, Learning

Responsible for development and delivery of continuing legal education curriculum for WealthCounsel, as well as supplemental education-related content and supporting information for use in WealthCounsel's website, other publications, and published software applications.

Working closely with the Director of Learning, the Associate Editor determines education strategy and learning objectives, develops substantive legal curriculum, drafting workshops, and law firm marketing material for estate planners and business lawyers, and works with the broader editorial team, member services, marketing, sales, and software development to create best-in-class continuing education, thought papers, and articles.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Creating substantive legal curriculum, legal drafting workshops and tutorials, and legal marketing strategy and materials for estate planners and business lawyers
  • Reviewing content provided by speakers and authors
  • Teaching virtual and in person continuing education courses
  • Serving as a contributing editor and author of substantive legal and tutorial content published by WealthCounsel in various forms, including:
    • Periodic articles published by WealthCounsel or other publishers (on behalf of self and WealthCounsel)
    • Substantive tutorial recordings to be embedded in WealthCounsel's websites, drafting and other software applications, or otherwise
    • Primary and supplemental content for WealthCounsel's document drafting systems
  • Interacting with WealthCounsel members, state and local bar associations, CLE organizations, and the public

Essential skills and experience:

  • Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school
  • Minimum 7 years working in continuing legal education or legal editorial positions
  • Minimum 4 years supervisory experience
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Experience working with automated legal drafting software a definite plus
  • Significant experience with both team teaching and solo teaching of continuing legal education
  • Demonstrable commitment to timeliness in meeting curriculum and content delivery deadlines
